Inside KarateShowCase

The member experience this dojo’s families, coaches and admins get — demonstrated with sample data.

Everything in this tour is sample data — fictional athletes, matches and notes. In the real product these records are visible to the dojo’s own members only.

    Platform Operations

Every dojo tenant, cross-dojo coach access, and the platform audit trail.

    New here

    How it works

Getting in, getting on the competition team, putting a match on your profile, and how your coaches give you feedback on it.

    Getting in

Three ways people arrive. Which one applies to you depends on how your dojo runs its site.

    Your dojo invited you

The most common way in. A link arrives by email; you open it, sign in or create your account, and you are a member straight away — there is no request to make and nothing to approve, because the invitation was the approval.

An invitation also decides what you arrive as — student, competitor, parent or guardian, or coach.

    You sign yourself up

Use Log In at the top of this site, then the Sign Up tab. You will need your name, your belt, an email address and a password, and you will be asked to agree to the waiver and terms and to confirm your age. We email you a link; opening it is what makes you a member.

Some dojos add members by invitation only. If yours does, signing up here will tell you so and ask you to contact the dojo.

You were given an access code

A code lets a visitor look around without an account: the calendar, events, tournaments, seminars and travel. It is not a membership, and it never shows competitors, results, coaching notes or anyone's contact details.

Members never need the code — you sign in as usual.

Putting a match on your profile

Match video lives on YouTube and your profile links to it. Three steps, and you only do the first one once per video.

    1. Put the video on YouTube

Sign in at youtube.com with any Google account, choose Create → Upload video, and publish it. Then copy the link from your browser's address bar.

Set the visibility to Unlisted unless you want the video found on YouTube itself. Unlisted means anyone with the link can watch it, but it does not appear in YouTube search.

Your video stays on your own YouTube account. This site stores the link, not the footage — so if you delete it on YouTube, the match keeps its details and coaching but the video no longer plays.

    2. Open the match form

There are two ways in, and both open the same form:

      • From your profileMy Profile at the top of the page, then the Matches tab, then + Add Match Video.
      • From My Dashboard — the My videos card, then Add a tournament video.

Your own coaches can add a match for you as well. Whoever adds it, it is the same record.

    3. Fill it in

Only the tournament is required. Everything else can be added or corrected later.

      Tournament / Event
Pick it from the list, or choose + Create New Tournament and name it. Required
      Date
Filled in for you when the dojo already has the tournament's date.
      Event Type
Kumite for a scored bout, Kata for a judged form. Choosing Kata removes the score and opponent fields — a kata has neither.
      Division
Individual or Team, and for kumite also Sanbon or Ippon. Leave it on Not specified if you are not sure.
      YouTube Video URL
Paste the link you copied, or use the Paste Link button. Any YouTube link works — watch, share, Shorts or live — and the format is sorted out for you.
Our Score · Opponent Score · Opponent Name
Kumite only. The scores are what produce the win, loss or tie on the match card.

      Then Add Match.

    Where it goes

The match joins the Matches tab on your profile, grouped by tournament and division, newest first. Kumite matches also count toward your Kumite record — kata is shown but is not scored win or loss.

    Who sees it at first

A new match starts visible to your coaches and dojo admins only — not to your teammates. That is deliberate: it gives you and your coach the first look. Your dojo can open it to the team.

    How coaching notes work

Feedback is pinned to the moment in the video it is about, so there is nothing to guess.

The moment is captured, not typed

When a coach starts writing, the note takes the video's current position and holds it while they type — so a note about 1:12 stays at 1:12 even if the video plays on. Now re-anchors it to wherever the video has reached.

Tap the time, watch the moment

Every note carries the time it refers to. Tap it and the video plays from there. Notes are listed in the order they happen in the match rather than the order they were written.

    You can answer back

A coaching note is a conversation, not a verdict. You can reply underneath any note, and your reply sits with it at the same moment in the video.

    Who can leave one

Your dojo's coaches and admins, and you. A coach's note is marked as a coach's note so you always know which voice you are reading.

    Who can see what

Competitor profiles, match video and coaching notes are private to the dojo. This is enforced on the server, not just hidden in the page.

    • Visitors who are not signed in

See nothing about any competitor — no profile, no match video, no results, no notes.

    • Members of other dojos

See nothing here. Membership belongs to one dojo, and there is no view across dojos.

    • Your coaches and dojo admins

See your profile, your matches and your coaching notes. They are the people running your training, and hiding your profile does not hide it from them.

    • Your linked parents or guardians

See what you see, including a profile you have hidden from the team. Your dojo makes that link — up to four people.

    • Your teammates

See your profile unless you hide it. On your profile there is one checkbox — Hide my profile from other competitors — and it is yours to set; a coach cannot set it for you. Individual matches start coach-only regardless.

    • A coach from another dojo

Only if KarateShowCase has assigned that coach to you by name. It is arranged one athlete at a time and shows them nothing else in the dojo. There is no way to share your profile with someone yourself — ask your dojo if you need this.

    Still stuck?

Anything about your team, your training or your place on it is your dojo's — ask your coach. If something on this site is not working the way this page describes, tell us.
