Set up the check-in tablet and student PINs

For Dojo owners and administrators, Coaches, Students and families

In short

In the admin console, open Schedule, then Classes, then Check-in kiosk, and press Add a tablet. On the tablet, open your dojo's address followed by /kiosk and enter the setup code, which works once and expires in 15 minutes. Students then check in by choosing their class and entering their PIN.

Setting up a tablet

Owners, administrators and lead coaches set up tablets.

  1. Open Admin console → Schedule → Classes and find Check-in kiosk.
  2. Press Add a tablet. A Setup code appears.
  3. On the tablet, open your dojo's address followed by /kiosk (for example karateshowcase.com/your-dojo/kiosk) and enter the code. It works once and expires in 15 minutes.

Remove on a tablet's row disconnects it.

Checking in at the tablet

  1. If more than one class is running, the student chooses theirs (Choose your class).
  2. They enter their PIN and press Check in.
  3. The tablet says "Thanks" with their name. If it is the wrong person, the undo button beside their name ("Not Maya? Undo") takes it back within a few seconds.

A tablet check-in and a staff check-in for the same class are the same record, so nobody is counted twice.

PINs

  • Owners, administrators and lead coaches issue PINs under Student check-in PINs, beside the tablets: Issue PIN for a student without one, New PIN to replace one. A new PIN is shown once — write it down or hand it over then, because it cannot be looked up again.
  • Families can choose their own on My Dashboard with Choose a PIN or Change PIN, unless the dojo's administrators have switched that off.
  • PINs are numbers: new ones are 4 digits, and a PIN a family chooses can be 4 to 8.
  • After too many wrong PINs a tablet pauses for a while, to stop guessing.
  • A student who has left the dojo (archived) cannot check in with their PIN, and no PIN can be issued or chosen for them. If they come back, owners, administrators and lead coaches can return them with Bring back onto the roster on their profile, and their PIN works again from then.
