Review match videos and leave coaching notes

For Coaches, Students and families

In short

Open a match from the Review tab of your Coach Dashboard, click into the note box under the video and press Post. A note is pinned to the moment in the video where you were, and only the athlete, their family, the dojo's coaches and administrators, and a coach from outside the dojo whom KarateShowCase has given access to the dojo, or assigned to the athlete, can read it.

Where to find it: Coach Dashboard → Review

Leaving a note

  1. Open the match. From the Coach Dashboard, the Review tab lists matches Awaiting your review, threads with a New reply for you, and Practice video to watch.
  2. Click into the note box under the video. The note is anchored to the video's current moment ("at 1:24"); Now re-anchors it if you have moved on.
  3. Write the note and press Post.

A note without a video position is filed under General notes. Notes can be up to 2,000 characters.

Replies, edits and deleting

  • Reply answers a note in its thread, one level deep.
  • Edit is for the note's own author only, administrators included.
  • Delete is for the author, or any of the dojo's owners, administrators and coaches. It removes the note straight away.
  • Report appears on other people's notes, for anything that should not be there.

Who can read the notes

  • The athlete, and the parents or guardians linked to them.
  • The dojo's owners, administrators and coaches, and a coach from outside the dojo whom KarateShowCase has given access to the dojo, or assigned to that athlete.
  • Not the athlete's teammates. Someone who cannot read them sees "Notes visible to coach & competitor only".

Who is told

A new note rings the bell for the athlete, their family and any coach assigned to them ("New coaching feedback"), and a reply rings it for the same people. The author is never notified of their own note. When an athlete or parent replies, the match shows New reply for you in every coach's Review queue. A newly added match video tells the dojo's administrators and coaches that a match is waiting to be reviewed.
