The Kumite Clock
For Coaches, Students and families, Dojo owners and administrators
In short
The Kumite Clock is a timer and scoreboard for kumite practice. Open it from Resources on your dojo's site, or at karateshowcase.com/kumite-clock. Choose the rules, the format and the bout length; the rules lock while the clock runs. It is a training tool, and it does not save results.
Opening it
- On your dojo's site: on a computer, open Resources and choose Kumite Clock; on a phone, open the menu and choose Kumite Clock.
- At a dojo behind a Team Access Code: the page asking for the code links to it.
- Anywhere: karateshowcase.com/kumite-clock.
Nobody needs to sign in.
Rules
Choose the circuit (AAU, NKF or WKF), the format and the bout length. AAU scores in whole points — a waza-ari is 1 and an ippon is 2 — and a sanbon match ends at 6. WKF scores yuko 1, waza-ari 2 and ippon 3, and a bout ends at an 8-point lead.
A dojo's owners and administrators choose which rulesets their clock offers and which it opens on. Those choices apply at your dojo's own clock address — your dojo's page followed by /kumite-clock; the clock at karateshowcase.com/kumite-clock uses the platform presets. At a dojo behind a Team Access Code, its clock still opens on the dojo's own rules, on any device, without the code.
While it runs
The rules lock while the clock is running: pause it to change them. In the middle of a match, changing the circuit or the format asks first, and starts a new match; changing the bout length asks first, and keeps the score; changing the Event spread applies without asking.
Good to know
The clock is for training. It keeps no scores or results — the device only remembers your last ruleset, bout length and event spread — and for live competition the tournament's official rulebook decides.
