Set up your dojo

For Dojo owners and administrators

In short

Ask for your dojo at karateshowcase.com/start. When it is approved, the dojo's owner gets an email with a setup link; it opens a page where you create your sign-in and your dojo. Your console then opens on Today, with a setup card listing what is left: your logo, a contact email, your belt ladder, your classes and your first families, and two optional steps, inviting coaches and taking card payments.

Asking for your dojo

Fill in the short form at karateshowcase.com/start: your dojo's name, your name and email, roughly how many students you teach, and, if you like, the address you would like (karateshowcase.com/your-dojo). We review each request by hand.

Claiming it

When your dojo is approved, its owner receives an email, "Set up" followed by your dojo's name, with a Set up my dojo button.

  1. The link opens a page for your dojo. Choose Create my sign-in, or I already have an account.
  2. Your email is fixed to the address the link was sent to. Choose a password of at least eight characters, and confirm you are 13 or older and accept the Waiver, Terms and Privacy Policy.
  3. Press Create my dojo. Your dojo's console opens.

The link works for 14 days. If it has expired, open it and press Email me a new link.

The setup card

Your console opens on Today, where the setup card lists what is left, in order:

  1. Upload your logo, and choose your colours.
  2. Add your contact email: where messages from your contact form go.
  3. Set up your belt ladder.
  4. Add your class schedule, when your dojo uses classes and attendance.
  5. Invite your coaches. Optional: a dojo run by one instructor is set up without it.
  6. Invite your first families.
  7. Take card payments, when your dojo takes payments online. Optional: families can pay at the desk in cash or by check, and you can turn card payments on whenever you are ready.

Each step ticks itself off when your dojo has the thing it asks for, and un-ticks if that thing goes away. The count covers the essential steps only. Hide folds the card away on that browser; Show brings it back. The card hides once every essential step is done, and comes back if one stops being true; the optional steps stay where they are done, at Admin console → People → Members and Admin console → Business → Payments.
